Kalki (Hindi) did quite well on Thursday as it collected Rs. 22.50 crores at the box office. Of course, a film of this scale and size with Prabhas’ reputation could have opened even bigger, but then such is the situation at the box office these days that the big numbers just don’t come. Therefore, when Rs. Crossing the 20 crores mark on the opening day was then a big deal in itself.
The momentum that the film has managed since Friday onwards has been significant and thankfully the trajectory has been positive even with Rs. 40 crore mark was crossed on Sunday. That pretty much ensured that Monday would be a really good one for the film, and the only question was, how big? This is where the number is greater than Rs. 15 crores was considered as it would be a benchmark not only for a great Monday but also a guarantee for a good week to come.
So it happened, as R. 16.50 crores has come in and this is a very reasonable drop from Thursday’s opening. 22.50 million. Any between Rs. 12-14 crores would also be good but to have come so far is just fantastic and now we can expect the film to stay in double digits till Thursday before picking things up over the weekend and reaching at least Rs. 20 crores again on Sunday. The total gross of the movie is also good as Rs. 128.65 crores in just 5 days. It will exceed 150 crores in the first seven days.
