New Delhi:

Bollywood actress Divya Dutta plays Preity Zinta’s best friend Shabina Ibrahim. Veer Zara, recently revealed that he initially feared the role would typecast him as the perennial “heroine’s best friend”. “I was sitting holding mom’s hand at the premiere of the movie. This is Yash Chopra’s film and the whole world is watching it. I enjoyed it very much. But, at the same time, I was worried that I would be stereotyped as the best friend of all heroines in the industry. There is a herd mentality in our industry. Everyone runs after the good looking and leaves the rest,” he said in a chat with Siddharth Kannan.

She continued, “During the interval of the movie, I ran away holding mom’s hand. Mumma says she is very proud of me for her performance. I said, ‘Thank you, mom, I am also loving being a part of this film.’ When we got out, I hid a little behind her. I didn’t want to hear any friend calling me because my dream was to be a ‘Yash Chopra heroine’. Yash uncle saw me while I was hiding there and called me. When I went to him, I was crowded and surrounded by people.

in Veer-Jara, Divya Dutta plays Shabbo, Zara’s (Preity Zinta) friend. The 2004 film featured Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. Along with Veer-Zaara, Divya Dutta and Shah Rukh Khan worked together in Baadshah, Shakti: The Power and Silsile.
