The trailer of the much awaited series Barzakh, featuring famous Pakistani actors Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed, has been released. According to the makers, the six-episode series combines magical realism with supernatural fantasy in a family reunion setting, promising an unforgettable narrative. The trailer, released on Monday, gives a sneak peek into the 76-year-old’s poignant journey to shock his estranged children and grandchildren by announcing his marriage to the ghost of his first true love. The series has a question, “When all is dry, will love endure?”
“This unconventional event sparks emotional revelations and clashes as family members gather, unsure whether to celebrate or intervene. As seen in the trailer, Barzakh Intricately weaves folklore against the backdrop of the stunning Hunza Valley, revealing a mystical world where everyone is interconnected. Amidst the turmoil, a haunting question haunts: ‘When all is dry, will love endure?'” read the official synopsis.

Calling Barzakh “Nothing out of the ordinary,” said Fawad Khan, “after seeing CakeWhen I was contacted Barzakh, I jumped at the chance. Asim’s work distinguishes him as a very unique director, with his contemporary approach emphasizing character development. Also, I always want to try something out of the ordinary and Barzakh Nothing out of the ordinary. It’s just plain practical and I love it.
Fawad has worked in Bollywood films like Khoobsurat (2014) and by Karan Johar Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) Barzakh Fawad Khan reunites with Asim Abbasi alongside Sanam Saeed after the 2018 family comedy-drama Cake.
Talking about being a part of the series, Sanam said it was an immensely rewarding experience for her. He said, “The premise of the show, which explores themes of family, love, loss and the afterlife, appealed to me from the beginning. As an actor, I am constantly looking for roles that challenge me and give me a new perspective on storytelling. Barzakh Presents the narrative beyond conventional boundaries and delves into the realms of the mystical and the unknown.
Sanam further said, “I am most excited to reunite with a stellar actor like Fawad and share the screen with Salman Shahid, Sajid Haasan and another Fawad (M. Fawad Khan) with whom I have worked closely in theatre. “
Barzakh Produced by Waqas Hasan and Shailja Kejriwal and starring Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, Salman Shahid, Eman Suleman, Khushal Khan, Faiza Geelani, Anika Zulfikar and Franco Giusti. Barzakh It was the only South Asian show to premiere at the 2023 Series Mania Festival in France.
The drama series will have its worldwide premiere on July 19 on Zindagi’s YouTube and ZEE5.
