Ranveer Singh plays the role of cricket legend Kapil Dev Kabir Khan among them 83, couldn’t have been happier as India lifted the T20 World Cup title 17 years after defeating South Africa on Saturday. Ranveer Singh shared the momentous pictures from yesterday’s match and wrote a lengthy note summarizing his outpouring of emotions in his latest Instagram entry. The carousel post features images of an emotional Rohit Sharma, a smiling Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli holding the trophy. The album contains frames of Team India celebrating after a stunning win. Ranveer Singh started his post with the words, “What else are we here for? How lucky we are to witness this amazing moment in our nation’s history! The boys did it! World Champions!!! We fought like warriors and took what was rightfully ours.”

Ranveer has written special messages for coach Rahul Dravid. Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. For Rahul Dravid, he wrote, “Rahul ‘The Wall’ Dravid! One of the greats of Indian cricket leaves with a World Cup to his name!” Calling Rohit Sharma the nation’s pride, Ranveer said, “Rohit Sharma’s legacy takes its crown! The ultimate achievement – he is a World Cup-winning captain, women and men! A model of aggressive batting in the short format. One of the greatest batsmen. Mumbai’s own, the nation’s pride of all time.”

Documenting the turning moments of the match, Ranveer Singh wrote, “To every member of Team India – Thank you! Surya’s catch goes down as one of the greatest plays in the team’s sporting history. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also announced their retirement from the T20 format last night. “This is my last T20 World Cup, this is what we wanted to achieve,” Virat Kohli said on air after India won the global tournament after 11 years. “One day you think you can’t score runs and this happens, God is great. (It’s) just a situation, now or never kind of situation. This is my last T20 game for India. We wanted to lift that cup,” he said.
