Raazi actor Jaideep Ahlawat shed 27 pounds to slip into the shoes of a godman in the YRF Entertainment-backed Netflix film Maharaj. Now, in a chat with Pooja Talwar, she revealed that undergoing the process was not an easy journey. “The body transformation was physically very challenging. I didn’t work for almost a year, after the lockdown, I was very heavy. It was difficult and painful. Thanks to Prajwal sir, my trainer, director Siddharth P Malhotra and everyone who believed that I could do it.
“This man thinks very differently. He thinks everyone is small in front of him. He has this faith. He doesn’t get angry over small things. It was a challenge because I had to convince myself to understand the thought process of that man and what he was doing… I had to believe it and convince myself of that first. And then had to convince the audience. I could do that thanks to my director, my writer and my costume designer,” he said.
A few days ago, Jaideep took to Instagram to share pictures from his Maharaj shooting days. He revealed how he lost 26 kg for the role in just five months. “From 109.7 kg. to 83 kg. In 5 months. That is the physical transition to the role of Maharaj. Thanks Prajwal sir for trusting me @prajwal7542,” Jaideep wrote in his post.
