Ajay Bijli, MD, PVR Inox explains, “Last month we acquired 2,00,000 people through corporate bookings, relaunches etc.”; It also says “we have discounted prices like you can’t imagine”

Ajay Bijli shared from the start, “The average occupancy rate in the country is 26%. However, India is such a different market. “Some cinemas in the south have 70-80% capacity.” Asked if it’s because prices are lower in the South, he said it’s only true in a few states where costs are controlled.

On ticket rates, Ajay Bijli explained, “When people say ticket prices are higher, they are only looking at PVR Juhu’s Saturday night premium show rates and extrapolating that (to prices in the rest of the country). Or they sit on the luxury screen, they pay Rs. 1500 and say “This is the ticket price (on board)”.

He added, “We have cinemas in almost every city and we have to cater to a very large audience. Therefore, our ATP (average ticket price) is not more than GEL. 250-260 years We have introduced the Passport scheme, through which you can watch a movie for 500 GEL. 85. I don’t think we can go lower than that.”

Ajay further said, “Only 14% of our screens are above the ticket price of Rs. 350. 86% of our screens cost Rs. 180-200 years This value proposition customer is my bread and butter. That’s why we introduced passport and sold F&B (food and beverage) in GEL. 99.”

Then he said: “I have experimented with prices as low as possible. What can be lower than GEL. 85 for such infrastructure? However, people did not come out. They also want something interesting,” suggesting that even movies should have strong content.

Ajay Bijli said at another point, “We have discounted prices like you can’t imagine. Because there are so many places and shows to fill. How do we get people in? So now we prepare the steps. Last month we got 2,00,000 people through corporate bookings, shows that people want to see or old movies. People can see their wedding videos, stand-up comedians, music festivals, etc., because there was no (significant) film.”

Ajay Bijli also said that PVR cinemas sell food and beverages worth Rs. 99 and it can be recharged for unlimited time. He revealed, “In fact, I have seen videos where customers don’t watch the movie (and come to the theater just to eat and enjoy unlimited F&B for Rs 99). In one video, a father tells his son:Isco Bharo. They fill the glass. It is pouring. They swallow and fill again. There are many such videos. pet mein itni jagah bhi Nahin hai jitna kha rahe hain aur pi rahe hai. Therefore, I felt that this offer should be discontinued. But Gautam Dutta (Executive Director, Revenue & Operations, PVR Inox) said, “Don’t worry. Let’s not stop. At least now no one will say that the price is high.”
