Madhuri Dixit slammed for alleged collaboration with blacklisted Pakistani promoter: Bollywood News

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene is under fire for her association with Rehan Siddiqui, a Houston promoter of Pakistani origin who was blacklisted by the Indian government for alleged links to the ISI. The controversy erupted on Friday, June 28, when columnist and political commentator Sunanda Vashisht highlighted the issue on social media.

Madhuri Dixit’s controversial collaboration

Sunanda Vashisth shared the poster of the upcoming event starring Madhuri Dixit and Rehan Siddique which is scheduled to be held in August 2024 in Houston, Texas, just a day after India’s Independence Day. Vashist took to Twitter urging Madhuri to reconsider participating in the event due to Siddiqui’s alleged connections and blacklisted status.

Government concern and public outrage

Vashist’s tweet included a four-year-old letter by BJP minister Kishan Reddy, then minister of state for home affairs, which categorically stated that Rehan Siddiqui had been blacklisted by the Indian government. Vashist expressed her shock and disappointment in her post:

“Shocked that @MadhuriDixit is working with a promoter of Pakistani origin who was under the radar of Indian agencies and blacklisted by the Indian government. Minister @kishanreddybjp as MoS Home publicly announced that Houston-based Pakistani origin promoter Rehan Siddiqui was blacklisted and asked Bollywood No celebrities to work with,” she said in her post.

Appeal to Madhuri Dixit

Vashist further appealed to Madhuri Dixit’s friends, family and fans to inform her about Siddiqui’s background and convince her to call off the collaboration. He said such associations have a disheartening effect on the Indian security forces and those who have laid down their lives for the country’s security. The actor has not yet made such a comment.

This incident follows another recent controversy involving Madhuri Dixit. Last month, the actor faced backlash after he posted and subsequently deleted a message condemning Israel’s rocket attack on Rafah.

On the professional front, Madhuri Dixit has recently bagged a Marathi film PanchakEarlier this year, Adinath Kothare, Dilip Prabhawalkar, Bharti Achrekar and others are in the cast. He is currently shooting for Dance Deewane 3 and is yet to announce any upcoming projects.
