The highly anticipated mega-budget epic, Kalki 2898, lives up to expectations with its performance at the box office. After opening Rs. 22.50 crores business on Thursday, the film showed excellent retention in Day 2 collections. According to early estimates, Kalki 2898 has collected in the range of Rs. 19.50 crore to 20.50 crore on Friday, with a two-day total collection of Rs. 42.50 million.
The film continues to do well across the board, be it multiplexes or individual screens, and that’s indicative of a long theatrical run. The decline overall is less than 10 percent, which is a positive sign as there was scope for a bigger decline.
Any number above GEL. 16 crores would be a good result but Rs. 20 crore Friday is excellent and sets the film up well on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is the India vs South Africa World Cup final, and that might hamper the evening and night show business, but still, the film has enough gas in its tank to grow its opening day figure.
There is an outside chance Kalki 2898 To get Rs. 95 crore mark over the four-day extended weekend, but it all depends on how much it collects on Saturday.
