Heramand’s song ‘Sakal Ban’ featured in exhibition at Royal College of Music, London: Bollywood News

Netflix and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has reached a milestone and it includes a popular song. “Sakal Ban”. The exhibition, which will run in the UK for 3 months until October, will include ‘Heeramandi’ and legendary Sufi music like from the films. In its launch week, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar became the most watched Indian TV series on Netflix, popular in 43 countries. It is the first Indian TV series to feature a globally acclaimed music album, showcasing India’s rich musical heritage on an international platform. An exhibition at the Royal College of Music Museum, titled “Awaken: Sufi Music and South Asian Women”, brings to life the overlooked stories of women’s roles in the male-dominated musical landscape of Sufism. Opened on June 18, the exhibition showcases the invaluable contributions of Sufi women by displaying items drawn from collections around the world. It reveals the voices, performances and instruments of Sufi women in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, from the Mughal period to present-day London.

At the Royal College of Music Museum exhibition ‘Sakal Ban’, Bhansali Productions CEO Prerna Singh expressed her excitement: “It is a great honor to have SLB’s collaboration recognized on such a prestigious platform, we are delighted to share it with a global audience.”

Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the web show stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Sanjida Sheikh and Richa Chadha as courtesans of Lahore as it shows their emotions like love, betrayal, power and patriotism. The eight-part series is now streaming on Netflix in 190 countries.
