In an interview with Film Companion, Mira Kapoor opened up about one of the biggest misconceptions about her: that she “looked down on working mothers.” He expressed regret for his 2017 remarks, explaining that he felt cornered at the time. “I felt pushed into a corner when people questioned why an educated woman like me chose to stay at home and take a conventional, conservative approach to my life,” she said. Mira considered this line of questioning unfair and said that during this period she wanted to spend time with her children.

Mira admitted that her comments were not well received for a reason. “I understand why it wasn’t received well. I think I was in a vulnerable, emotional space. I was just trying to defend myself and prove that my choices were the right ones,” she admitted. Mira regretted her words, saying: “It hurt a lot of people.”

She also added that she continues to face criticism for these comments, but has also received unwavering support from her husband, Shahid Kapoor. “When the controversy first happened, I got a lot of support from Shahid as he has been associated with the media for 14 years now,” he said.

He believes that it is time to forgive him, because life comes full circle and everyone makes mistakes. “I think it’s time to be forgiven because life comes full circle and you make mistakes and learn from them,” he said.

In 2017, during an event dedicated to Women’s Day, Mira Kapoor made a comment that caused controversy. He said, “You know I can raise my daughter; I can be a good wife, I can organize my home the way I like it, not in terms of how it should be, but the way a home should be with its values and ideals. So there’s nothing stopping me after that, but I love being a mother to my son, I wouldn’t want to spend an hour a day rushing to work, he’s not a puppy.
