“The tide is coming in…” Gravitas has released the official trailer for the indie drama. The way we speakmarks the feature directorial debut of indie filmmaker Ian Ebright. It premiered a few months ago at the 2024 Florida Film Festival and also screened at the River Run Film Festival and the Julien Dubuque Film Festival. The way we speak is a modern-day cautionary tale. The plot is pretty vague: An aspiring writer refuses to step out of the spotlight when his best friend and debate partner goes into cardiac arrest, and becomes obsessed with a new one. Reviews call it a “rich character study with obsession, insecurity, and jealousy at its heart.” Patrick Fabian He starred as Simon, Diana Coconuvo, Kaylee Rose, Ayanna Berkshire, Lowell Deo, Ricco Distefanoand Lead DiamondThis very moody, almost dialogue-free trailer does a good job of concealing the film’s religious undertones, which portray an atheist’s anxiety over his young, blonde, intelligent Christian debate opponent. Hmm. Stop hiding this and state it boldly and openly in the synopsis. It’s clearly a narrative device and many will fall for it anyway…
