Haley Bennett appears in official trailer for champagne drama ‘Widow Clicquot’

“Man is compelled to create…” Vertical has released the official trailer for the film. Widow Clicquotis about a French woman and the art of champagne-making in France, but it’s an American project. It premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival last year and screened at the 2024 Sonoma Film Festival earlier this year, because, of course, they screened wine movies there. The film tells the backstory of the Veuve Clicquot champagne family and business that began in the late 18th century, focusing on Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, known as the “Lady of Champagne.” Haley Bennett It stars Barbe Nicol, who married into a winemaking family to become Madame Clicquot and take over the fledgling company after being widowed at age 27. Under her (controversial) ownership and wine skills, the company developed early champagnes using a novel technique called riddling. The film focuses on her relationships, as well as her winemaking skills and the French champagne-making traditions. Along with Bennett, Tom Sturridge, Sam Riley, Anson Boon, Leo Suter, Paul Rees, Natasha O’Keefe& Ben MilesStories about wine and its history are usually fun. This is passionate and beautiful. I’d love to see it.
