The production of “Captain America: Brave New World” managed to finish filming before Hollywood’s double whammy from the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild last year. But in post-production, the film was postponed from the previous release date of July 26, 2024 to a February 2025 release. It wasn’t something to worry about at the time, especially since many films were being postponed due to strikes. But now that we have details on how extensive this shoot will be, there’s something to worry about.
Matthew Orton, who worked on the “Moon Knight” TV series for Disney+, was brought on to write new script pages in December, and if Marvel has 22 days of filming scheduled, those pages have some heavy lifting to do to improve the movie. However, The Hollywood Reporter indicates that this is not the case as drastic as those done for “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” or “The Wonders”. But at this point, we’re not sure how much damage control this is for a film that has an uphill battle to impress fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Without knowing who Giancarlo Esposito will play in “Captain America: Brave New World,” it’s difficult to know what to expect from his performance. Will he be the typical comic book villain with superpowers or a more grounded and strategic villain? Could he end up playing a bigger role in the MCU that will impact future films?
“Captain America: Brave New World” also stars Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez and Rosa Salazar, and the film is scheduled for release on February 14, 2025.
