Jennifer Lopez’s science fiction film hits the top of the Netflix charts

“Atlas” arrived on Netflix on May 24, 2024, and wouldn’t you know it, the film went straight to the top of the Netflix charts in countries around the world, including the United States. According to the streaming views tracker FlixPatrol, as of this writing, the film has been number one on Netflix’s most-watched chart since May 25, meaning it debuted at number one. But it’s not just viewers in the US who are streaming it.

“Atlas” is currently on the charts of 93 countries and is number one in 58 of them. It’s a huge win for both Netflix and the filmmakers. Movies that would otherwise appear to be duds always do well on Netflix, like when a The horribly reviewed Spanish slasher has topped the charts last year, or the truly inexplicable success on Netflix of Kevin Hart’s “Lift.” earlier this year. But not only to reach number one in 58 countries around the world, but debut in first place in almost all separates “Atlas” from the rest.

Of course, the actual number of hours viewed will be a better test of this movie’s success, and Netflix won’t release those stats for another week or so. But for now “Atlas” has clearly overcome the negative reviews and a win is a win (unless you remember the Michael Fassbender failed in the ratings in ‘The Snowman’ last year, proving Netflix viewers will watch anything).
